Active Aging
- . Think you need to make a change and not sure where to start? Let's talk about your wellness plan for the rest of your life!
- Already active? Add some flexibility and balance to your everyday activities. Think falls prevention and increased range of motion, and moving more freely on and off the mat!
- Already 'actively aging'? If we are fortunate enough to wake up tomorrow morning, everyone on this planet will find they are chronologically older. Which really means little if you eat healthy, don't smoke, maintain a healthy weight, and MOVE daily.
- Many seniors are active and walk a few times a week for fitness. Some get plenty of fresh air doing healthy activities like gardening and, believe it or not, housework and baking! Yup, housework and gardening is considered 'active'.
- It is recommended we all get 150 minutes of activity a week. That is just 30 minutes five times a week. And all 30 don't have to be at once if time is an issue. On a given day, three 10 minute sessions in the garden will work too.
- Stretching and moving the body and breath in functional stretching, gentle yoga or dance can round out your routine.
